Any idea if there is a secret to getting this out or is the nut just fused to the bolt? There is some odd cut on the side of the bolt on the 11 o’clock position

I have a very powerful impact gun we call the wrecker. It’s reserved for special situations, otherwise it’s good at breaking parts. Might work here?

Do you have a 3+ foot long breaker bar? Those tend to solve things, heck even a 24" one is pretty good when you get two people to stand on the end of it.
Other thought would be a nut splitter

Torch, as in straight propane, or something with a kick of oxygen?

PB Blaster and a hammer. Also, that weird cut looks like it’s a hole for a cotter pin, because that’s an alignment bolt, so you’d want to make the nut doesn’t move. Breaker bar + PB Blaster and smack it with a hammer a few times. Are you 100% sure it’s not reverse threaded? Also, it looks like a locking nut, so it’s going to be a PITA to get off no matter what.

The slot is engaged by tabs on the washers. They’re eccentric alignment washers. So as you turn the bolt the washers will turn also causing the arm to move inward or outward thus changing your alignment angles.
My suggestion is a long breaker bar, 3', or an impact, 1/2" pneumatic.

yeah, those are supposed to be single use nuts. The bolt is split-thread on those if I remember correctly... You’ll probably have to split the old nut and install a new one when you reassemble.

It was the lower control arm. That’s used for alignment? E got it if with a little heat and a breaker bar. Is it reusable? It didn’t look like a lock nut

Yeah, exactly. It sets camber. Having an alignment performed after this will be crucial. There should be another one for caster. The nut itself looks like a nylon lock nut, not that it really matters that much. But you will want to replace the nut and make sure the control arm bushing is still good as heat can ruin them both.

Torch, as in the guy who rambles about just nearly anything on Jalopnik.
